The Purpose
The purpose of The Shirt Series is to develop fashion design professionals empowered with the necessary skills, and awareness and understanding of the various aspects of the fashion industry.
The Goals
The objective of The Shirt Series short course is to produce fashion design professionals empowered with the necessary skills to successfully take a project from concept to end product through various processes with an well-rounded understanding of all necessary facets through research and application skills.
The Modules
Design and Conceptualisation
Students are taken through the process of conceptualising and creating a unique and original collection. Different aspects of the creation process are explored and researched.
Shirt Pattern Technology
Once garments have been designed, technical drawings are created to aid and guide the creation of patterns - the 2D paper form of a garment.
Shirt Garment Technology
With a completed pattern, fabrics are spread and garments are constructed. Student will be taught the main styles of shirts, and their construction techniques.
Textile Manipulation
Dyeing and printing techniques are taught to provide students with the ability of take an ordinary piece of cloth into a unique textile.
Brand Creation
From gaining insight into target audiences and niche markets to understanding the importance of colour and logo design, students are taken through a holistic process of creating a brand under which they will sell their products

The purpose of The Concept to Consumer Series is to develop design professionals empowered with the necessary skills, awareness and understanding of the various aspects of design, and the confidence to successfully create complementary features to a product.
The Goals
The objective of The Concept to Consumer Series short course is to produce design professionals empowered with the necessary skills to adequately navigate and create successful communication, through design, of a project from concept to end product with an versatile understanding of the necessary aspects of design through research and application skills.
The Modules
The Fashion Calendar
A detailed analysis of the fashion calendar provides students with sound knowledge that will ultimately aid them in planning and executing a well-timed product.
Target Audience
When creating a collection, it is imperative one has in mind who the product is for. Students are guided through analysing, and determining their target audience.
Niche Markets and Competitors
Students are guided in understanding the various niche markets, and are aided in determining which niche market to create for.
Furthermore, students are guided in assessing and identifying their competitors, and identifying their unique selling point to set them apart from their competitors.
Brand Identity
From colour theory, to typography, to logo creation, and packaging, students are guided in creating brand identity to create a cohesive image, and create a connection between them and their customers.
Production and Manufacturing
The process of from-sample-to-store floor is explored, and students are guided in sourcing the right manufacturer, the pre-production process, quality assurance, fashion costing, and finally delivering finished products to retailers.
